In his policy paper 'It's Hatching Season for Hugo', Jonny Lantz Snr depicts a leader intoxicated with power. An iconoclast who's reign will come to be remembered for high levels of corruption, inefficiency, oil dependency and political unaccountability. With Chavez at the helm, Jonny argues that Venezuela is headed for economic ruin, social division and political tyranny. But do you agree? Many prominent academics and authors see Chavez as a liberator and political reformer. Richard Gott for example describes him as a man of great vision and dignity. A man of the people who merely wishes to use his country's national resources to the benefit of it's inhabitants, as opposed to multi-national conglomerates. What do you think?

How do you rate the presidency of Hugo Chavez?
